People really do need to stop giving you trouble because of the magic and all - that's unbelievably tiresome, especially since I doubt you would use it on a person without good reason. If Murdock isn't going to keep to himself and instead insists on cornering you somewhere, of course you're going to ensure that he can't keep doing that for a while, it's a natural conclusion. A bit extreme, perhaps, but not altogether something that can't be understood.

This entire thing sounds like a case of people being unable to mind their own business, at the center of it.
